Dr. Jessica Hunter is a California and Virginia licensed clinical psychologist working at the Child and Family Counseling Group in Fairfax, Virginia. She has spent the past 12+ years working as a psychologist in a variety of capacities with adolescents, adults, older adults, families and couples.
Dr. Hunter has practiced as a clinical psychologist and team supervisor at an outpatient mental health clinic, a program director of both an outpatient mental health clinic and clubhouse for adults in the community, founding director of an outpatient older adult services program and in private practice.
Dr. Hunter has been involved in the development of several outpatient programs such as the Full Service Partnership for Older Adults, the Assertive Community Treatment program and the Twin Peaks dual diagnosis residential program.
She has been invited to participate in the Paraprofessional Mental Health Worker Training Program for adults via Pasadena City College as a clinical supervisor. In addition, she has been involved in the clinical supervision of staff psychologists gaining postdoctoral hours. Dr. Hunter has frequently been invited to present as a subject matter expert at Pacific Clinics staff professional education and training workshops.
Dr. Hunter received additional psychotherapy, biofeedback and assessment training at the following locations: The Center Clinic of the George Washington University, the University of California Riverside Counseling Center, Mariposa Clubhouse Intake services, and the substance abuse disciplinary services program through the George Washington University Counseling Center.
Recently Dr. Hunter has appeared as a guest on the online news exclusive, Midpoint. Midpoint is hosted by Ed Berliner and provides breaking news on politics, health, and finance. Dr. Hunter was invited to be a guest on the segment covering the recent display of murder on social media and the issues that result such as the debate about weapons and minors, social media and its possible influence on young people in today's society.
Dr. Hunter is a full-time licensed clinical psychologist at the Child and Family Counseling Group in Fairfax, Virginia. She conducts individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy and specializes in couples anad family work as well as working extensively with teens. She welcomes consultations with other professionals regarding how to best facilitate the growth and resolution of clinical issues. Her areas of expertise include affective disorders such as depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders (Panic Disorder, OCD, agoraphobia), relationship and communication concerns, grief and loss, identity matters, separation and divorce, ADHD (HD) and clients who have struggled with a history of emotional or physical trauma or loss. She administers psychological testing and conducts evaluations.
